My name is Joseph Bane and I am a computer science major
at the University of Maine in Orono.
I also have a part time
job working for the ECE department at Target Technology Center
as a student
administrator for the University Supercomputer under
the direction of John Koskie, Steve Cousins,
and Bruce Segee.
My computer related interests include GNU/Linux and other open
source projects, AI, databases, networking,
graphics, and security.
I am a student member of the ACM and I acted as secretary for the UMaine
chapter for
two years. Also, I am currently a participant in the
UMaine ACM chapter activities, though to a lesser extent
than I was
as secretary.
I also am very interested in clustering, HPC, operating systems, and
architecture. Some of my skills include
perl, C/C++, Java, Ruby,
MPI related programming, Haskell, Common Lisp, *NIX system utilities,
FORTRAN,
OpenGL, DirectX, and many other interesting languages, APIs,
and tools, including, believe it or not, some
work with COBOL.
I am an active guitar player, and I enjoy photography, video games,
and film.
